Absence

Absences from school should be reported before 9.30am either by using the absence reporting feature on ParentMail, email absence@hurst-hill.dudley.sch.uk or by calling the school office on 01384 818845 and choosing option 1 to leave us a message. Please ensure that you detail the reason for your child's absence and when they are likely to return.

Certain medications can be administered to children who are well enough to attend. Please complete a request for school to administer medication form and return with the medicine to the school office. Children should not keep medication with them. Please see our Medical policy for more information.

It is now necessary for all parents to seek ‘Leave of Absence’ at least 15 school days before they are intending to take their child out of school. This can be done by completing and returning to the Headteacher a ‘leave of absence’ form. Only in exceptional circumstances will the leave of absence will be authorised. No holidays can be taken during term time.

SCHOOL CLOSURE

If school needs to fully or partially close in an emergency, we would contact parents via a text message. We would give as much notice as possible for you to collect your children, or to state that school is closed, and this would only be due to unforeseen circumstances. Please ensure we have two up to date emergency contact phone numbers for your family.

In the event of snow, we aim to keep school open. In the unlikely event that staff are unable to get to school, Hales Valley Trust will make a decision by 8am on the day. We will again notify parents via text message, an announcement on the school website, Dudley Council website and on local radio stations. www.blackcountryradio.co.uk Click on news and then school closures.

Please send your children to school unless you hear differently from us.
